Hello 2015! I know I may be a little late on this but better later than never, right? I decided to dedicate an entire post to skin care. These have been my go-to for the past year. Some of you may think this is product overload, but I only use them according to what my skin is telling me. Yes, it talks. My basic routine during the day is cleanse, tone and moisturize. My night routine is double cleanse, tone, and treat, moisturize.
Rose Water Spray (here): I get a ton of my skin care at my local health food store. I mix this with vegetable glycerin and it works wonders to refresh my skin later in the day, or I apply it after my makeup. I love it for its moisturizing abilities!
Hydraluron (here): Most of you are probably aware that Indeed Laboratories products are readily available in Canada now. Caroline Hirons, skincare guru, raved about this so of course I had to try it. If you don’t already know her, shame on you. I trust her opinion on skin care and even if some of the products she would mention don’t all necessarily work for me, I follow her routine by the books. Basically the routine I mentioned above and if you want to know more details, go to her blog at www.carolinehirons.com. Anyway, hydraluron is basically a serum that boosts hydration levels within the skin. It’s the last product I apply on my face before my moisturizer. It contains high amounts of hyaluronic acid. This helps your moisturizer absorb in your skin better.
Benefit Concealer: (here) I know this doesn’t fall under the skincare category, but I thought I’d add it anyway. After acne comes scars. This conceals scars better than any cream concealer I’ve ever tried.
Retin A Micro – This is a prescribed medication to help with my acne. I did ALOT of research on this before asking my doctor for a prescription and I strongly advise you do the same as it’s a strong medication! I always experience peeling, but I use a very small amount every other day to prevent really bad peeling. Peeling is good when it comes to this product. It encourages cell turnover in the skin so I exfoliate every other day to slough the dead skin off. Ask your doctor for a lower dose prescription to start with as I worked my way up to the highest strength or if you have the highest strength, apply every other day. I now only apply this around once a week
Clarins Exfoliating Toner -(here)The only thing I don’t like about this product is that it contains alcohol. The upside, it has glycerin. I don’t use this everyday, probably twice a week if I really need it. It’s softening, exfoliating, brightening, and hydrating. It’s everything!
Apple Cider Vinegar Toner – Yes, I know it stinks but if I had to choose from all these products I mentioned, this would be it. I swear by this. It helps treat blemishes, cystic acne, warts, clarify hair, and even be consumed in a drink mixed with water! If I go on anymore about this cider, it will be a very long rant. Just look up the advantages and different uses of Acid Cider Vinegar. You’ll be amazed!
Jojoba Oil- I love using oil as a moisturizer! I’ve tried all sorts of oil and this is the one I keep going back to. It absorbs really well into my skin!
That sums it up! Also remember that it’s also important that eating healthy and is just as important as all the topical creams you apply externally.
